John Smith
Job: Designing stuff, drawing stuff, taking photos, telling stories. Lots of stories.
Cred: John has over 30 years experience in the industry. He got his start as an editorial and commercial illustrator before branching out to do original art for publications such as Seattle Weekly and The New Yorker. As an advertising art director, he’s worked with clients like Starbucks, Alaska Airlines, Holland America Line, Hewlett-Packard, and Pacific Health. John’s a former faculty member of Seattle’s venerable School of Visual Concepts, where he spent 10 years teaching conceptual illustration. In addition to his professional credentials, John is an accomplished artist. His work—in oils and mixed media—has appeared in many galleries, shows, and venues.
Fun Fact: John was the designer of the Herfy’s Wacky Burger Box, which predated the McDonald’s Happy Meal by several years.
